About the servers being down since Saturday afternoon

Filed under: Issues — bubu @ 4:41 am

The company that hosts our severs had a fire Saturday afternoon in one of their data centers…unfortunately it was the one were our main servers are hosted. Apparently one of their transformers blew up, thus requiring them to take down all generators for safety reasons.

“This evening at 4:55pm CDT in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.

We have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit. We were not allowed to activate our backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department.

This is a significant outage, impacting approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers. All members of our support team are in, and all vendors who supply us with data center equipment are on site. Our initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by mid-afternoon on Sunday. Rest assured we are working around the clock.

We are in the process of communicating with all affected customers. we are planning to post updates every hour via our forum and in our customer portal. Our interactive voice response system is updating customers as well.

There is no impact in any of our other five data centers.

I am sorry that this accident has occurred and I apologize for the impact.”

Douglas J. Erwin
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

More can be found on their official forums.

Small issues like some pages loading harder then usual or some sections of our sitesĀ  for that matter, until the hosting company recovers 100% from damage caused by the fire.
We’re really sorry for what happened and we apologise once again to all Clipta and CliptaSearch users for the inconvenience.

“Upload has been temporarily disabled”

Filed under: Uncategorized — bubu @ 2:39 am

We were forced to disable the uploads due the fact we should have received some servers last Friday and as you can see we didn’t. The “encoding issues” we had Sunday we’re caused by the same thing, but then we could delete some extra files to make some more room but now the servers hard-drives are 100% full. We hope our servers weren’t kidnapped by the Talibans and will come soon. :)

We’re very sorry for what happened but right now there’s nothing we can do till the servers arrive…unless anyone could invent a teleporter …anyone? :)

Encoding problems

Filed under: Issues — bubu @ 5:50 am

Since yesterday evening we’ve noticed that some of the clips get “stuck” at the encoding step during upload. The weirdest thing is that although the upload-er wasn’t modified recently the issue started completely out of the blue. The issue is not related to the file format. You can get stuck trying to upload a clip and the second time it could work perfectly. At the same time you could never run into this issue.
The guys from the tech teams are trying to fix this issue right now. We hope it will be solved soon.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

A bit of patience…

Filed under: General — bubu @ 6:40 am

While we do understand everybody wants to get their money as fast as possible and we do the best we can to achieve that, please try to understand as as well. The number of people requesting money has went very high, compared to not too long ago. I don’t think that anyone can say they were not payed, but please don’t mail after 2-3 days saying you didn’t get your money yet, wait at least a week and then you can “spam” us regarding that issue :).

We did some modification to the money request form, so we hope it will go faster now. Time will tell, but at the same time with adding more and more language versions there will be more and more people. So we ask just for a bit of patience… that’s all :)

Video Search Engine

Filed under: Releases — bubu @ 4:37 am

How many of you may have noticed the search on Clipta.com is a bit different from the ones on other video sites? Its database is not limited to Clipta.com only, it provides search results gathered from other websites on the net, giving you premium results. CliptaSearch (www.cliptasearch.com) can be accessed by typing the address or trough the links on Clipta.com. This website provides just the search without any other objects typically found on video sharing websites as well as a different display of results. We hope it will be ready soon after the language versions will be released. Cliptasearch will provide viable alternative for all those search engines out there that either take forever to load a page full of clips or it takes forever to find the exact thing you were searching for. Another nice feature will be the ability to watch a clip without having to go to the website, this saves you load time, as well as keeping your interface as simple as possible, making navigation smooth and easy.

Clipta.ro

Filed under: Releases — bubu @ 3:40 am

As i said in the previous post we are getting ready to launch Clipta.ru, but at the same time we are preparing to launch a Romanian version too. Like the Russian version, Clipta.ro it’s running already as well, but there are still some tests to be done. After the tests will end, if it all goes well, we’ll make an official release of both versions.
