Clipta Video Search attends SF New Tech conference

Friday, November 21st, 2008

A friend of mine told me that I should check out SF New Tech. This time it was held at club Mighty in San Francisco’s Portrero Hill District. It was definitely a laid back event with bloggers, entrepreneurs, Venture Capitalist, Angel Investors, and tech enthusiasts gathering at a club to mixing alcohol with technology (very exciting). SF New Tech is run my Myles Weissleder of Mylermedia, and it usually sponsored by various tech companies. Every SF New Tech event, there are 5 companies that do a 5 minute presentation on their product followed by a 5 minute questions session. It’s actually funny how there is a big countdown clock at the event. It reminds me of at a hot dog eating contest that you see on TV, where they have 5 minutes to gobble down as much Oskermeyer as superhumanly possible. Some presenters weren’t used to pitching their idea, especially to over an audience of 200+. I would have to say that this is the best place to practice your pitch to others. Everyone in the audience was supportive regardless of what they thought about the product or the pitch.

I also had the chance to talk to others about Clipta Video Search and how we are the future of video search.  It’s always interesting to see how other companies are pitching their products, and it gave me some ideas on how we will present Clipta in a future SF New Tech event. This was my first, but definitely not my last SF New Tech event.
