Clipta releases report: Top 10 online video sites in US

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

With more video destinations emerging from every corner of the web, the online video space has become more diverse, and ultimately more difficult to navigate through. As a result, Clipta video search released its first version of C-Rate yesterday, a rating system designed for online video sites. The editorial team and engineers at Clipta put together its first month-to-month list of the “Top 10 video sites in the U.S. in February 2009”. You can find videos from all these sites at Clipta Video Search.

Clipta’s C-Rate system rates sites based on a series of criteria involving analytics, (staff picks)/editorial liberty, and heavily influenced by user behavior. Clipta’s C-Rate page also offers links to the top videos viewed at the original site, site statistics from Quantcast, and company information from CrunchBase.

Watch Super Bowl XLIII’s most popular ads here on Clipta Video Search. Rating from worst to first, here are the winners:

Worst: PepSuber

Pepsi-Cola’s Saturday Night Live’s skit “MacGruber”, originally a spoof of the popular MacGyver TV series, now turns into “PepSuber.” In efforts to make MacGruber look like a sell-out, Pepsi managed to waste millions of dollars in less than 30 seconds on a terrible commercial.

Converting to Clipta News

Monday, December 15th, 2008

I was moving into my new apartment in South Beach district of San Francisco this weekend. The amenities in my building are far better than the last place I lived, which had no amenities. One of the amenities at my new place is the 24 hour Concierge service.

I just moved and already the concierge service has been very useful. I had to use a luggage cart to haul in a bunch of stuff so I went over to the concierge desk to ask for it.

The concierge was in the middle of watching a new video on CNN.com as I walked around his desk to get the cart. It was now my duty to let him know about Clipta News. I told him that not only can you watch CNN videos on Clipta News, but he can also watch other top new sources on Clipta News without having to venture to other sites. He was happy to take a look and I showed him not only can he see multiple news sources on an easy to use platform, but also the capabilities to go back into time to see what news was broadcasted the day and time he was interested in.

I then left him be to check it out while I continued my moving process. By the way, moving sucks! I must hold some sort of record for moving to so many different apartments within the same city in the last 5 years (7 apartments).

After I was done using the luggage cart, I brought it back to the concierge and the guy was still on Clipta News. He said that he was convinced and willing to convert to using Clipta News from now on. The best part about it is that it is only going to get better with the future release of many more news providers, and the implementation of news categories.

One down….millions more to go. :)

Joe Satriani vs. Coldplay

Friday, December 5th, 2008

I was watching Clipta News today and watched a video about a lawsuit filed by Joe Satriani vs. Coldplay. Joe is claiming that part of his song, “If I could fly”, which was written back in 2004, was plagiarized by Coldplay. Their latest hit from their new album “Viva La vida” has a verse that is almost identical to that of Satriani’s song. I searched both music videos on Clipta video search and realized that Satriani is not making it up. I am a huge Coldplay fan, but it sounds too similar for it to be a coincidence. Take a look and tell me what you think.
